Northern Ireland's further education colleges are celebrating a century of service, during which time they have consolidated their place at the heart of communities. Colleges have undergone many transformations over the last 100 years and the sector is about to enter its most exciting period to date with the merger of the sixteen colleges into six new area-based colleges. These new colleges will continue to be at the heart of local communities, building on provision and serving all learners throughout Northern Ireland.
The ANIC Conference 2007 will provide colleges with an opportunity to step back and look at the impact which the sector has had on the wider Northern Ireland community since the opening of the very first technical college. It will also examine the way forward for colleges, in light of the changes in the wider Northern Ireland education community.
